What do you get if you mix form, elegance and art with a brilliant team led by an inspiring woman whose love of technology is matched only by her sense of humour? Right! You get a typewriter that sends emails! You really gotta see this...
This is simply fantastic! Aparna Rao is a TED Fellow no less, and in this talk she shows us eight projects that both "re-imagine" the everyday, like a typewriter that sends emails, and delight us with their humour - watch out for her "territorial" cube and the inquisitive little creature-shapes that get spooked by sudden noise.
Children need to see things like this if we are to inspire the engineers, the scientists, the imagineers of the future. When you mix really complex technology with sheer delight and laughter it's a guaranteed recipe for future success.
Bravo Aparna - this is a brilliant TED talk. Such a pity that you couldn't have had more time. If ever a speaker deserved just five more minutes to let the slides of their presentation really strike home, it's Ms Rao.
Watch her talk and be tickled pink as High Art and High Tech meet face to face, each with a tongue lodged firmly in cheek.
Enjoy!
