Watching the 9 o' clock news tonight I was struck by an unfamiliar thought. Enda Kenny was giving his first speech as Taoiseach and for a moment his voice caught. He was speaking of the leaders of his party that had preceded him and of his hugely influential late father, also a politician, and suddenly there was a moment. And in it I found myself thinking "you know what? I believe him."
