Despite the tiredness, pain, and uncertainty of recent weeks, there have also been plenty of occasions to smile, and, let's face it, plenty of opportunities to lash back gallons of wine. And beer. And a few Jamies. And sherry. And Baileys. And even (whisper it) some lemonade...

A holiday is a great thing. Doesn't matter where you go, just to get away is thing. Me and S considered heading off to Mauritius an' Barbados an' Malasia and all them paradise places, but after I looked at me bank balance the only place I reckoned we could head for was Sandycove, just past Kinsale. Luckily S had other plans and before I knew what was what I was off on a visit to Cardiff and Oxford...

It's been a frantic time of late. Futterin' about, eating like there's no tomorrow, worrying that people might be staring at me, and all the time rushing too and from home to feed the kids. Yup, for the birds around our house it's been pure frantic right enough...

Crutching round the garden last week I couldn't wait for the knees to heal. The light was just so, the flowers amazing. But I was on crutches, a situation hardly conducive to photo-taking. But then I hit upon a pretty fine idea. Why not take advantage of the crutches themselves?

Normally when I post photos I've been somewhere really picturesque and have some photos that, to my eye, are worthy of putting in a frame. This last week however, I got no further than the garden. But with the lovely weather the last ten days or so this hasn't been a problem at all...

It seems that it's only taken 2 or 3 days for Spring to make its appearance and the rising sap has made me realize that it's ages since I posted any proper photos...

It's been such a topsy turvy month that it's hard to know
where to start. So I'm gonna see what my fingers say
vis a vis
the latest news. To start with there's some developments in my dealings
with the Pain Management Team in St Vincent's. But that's not all that's
been going on. There's been photo opportunities too which we'll get to
a little later. First though, here's the latest on the Pain situation...

I'm coming to realize that I need to start up again, need to get out and engage with the world, need to find a way to live, fully and completely - pain and all. I've been hibernating for an awfully long time, it's time to look at beginning afresh. Trouble is, where to start? When you're stuck in quicksand what do you do to get yourself out?

If there was ever a truer metaphor for the game that is "Life" then Snakes 'n' Ladders has got to be it. This last month has been a particularly intense session with my cup 'n' dice, and for all the ladders I've climbed it seems that a pesky snake has yet again been at the end of my roll...
